New England Classical Singers celebrated the close of another stunning season with a festive house party on May 31, 2023. This annual event brings together chorus, board, and supporters to share memories of the year’s concerts and kick off the final fundraising push for the fiscal year, which ends June 30.
Alto Elizabeth Sarantos graciously offered her home for the party, which started with a sumptuous summer buffet. Alto Gail Armondino organized a drawing, which included enviable prizes, lavish gift baskets, and even a Lego jazz quartet! Pianist Yulia Yun was the lucky recipient of the Lego set—a fitting prize for a gifted musician. The group said a bittersweet goodbye to Yulia, who is moving on after many years as accompanist.
The evening’s highlight was a singalong led by the multi-talented tenor and organizational treasurer Peter Ersland, who happens to be an accomplished ukulele player. This roomful of resonant voices put a whole new spin on “A Hard Day’s Night” and other classics!
President Jim Affleck spoke briefly about some exciting upcoming initiatives, so watch our blogs, Facebook, and Instagram for more news.
Check out the photos from the house party and watch for your invitation next year.
Don’t forget to help us end the fiscal year on a high note: between now and June 30, all gifts $50 and up will be matched up to $2,500 by a generous group of donors. Double your impact and donate today!
