Co-president: Martin Heller, Andover, MA
Martin Heller grew up in Philadelphia, where he studied violin with Edgar Ortenberg and voice with Eddy Ruhl. He earned a B.A. in Music and Physics from Haverford College, and a Ph.D. in Physics from Brown University. He moved to Andover in 1978 to work for New England Nuclear, and later for Physical Sciences, Inc. He became a consultant in 1986 and started writing for magazines and editing a journal. He was later a co-founder of PC Pitstop, a VP at Alpha Software, and Chairman and CEO at Tubifi. He currently writes for InfoWorld. Martin joined NECS in 1999 as a baritone. He served at various times as bass section leader, a member-at-large of the board, and Treasurer, before being elected co-president in 2019.
Co-president: Maryann Sadagopan, Andover, MA
Maryann hails from Philadelphia and is a resident of Andover for close to 25 years. She holds a BS in Textile Design from Philadelphia University and MA in Museum Studies from Harvard University. Her background includes collection management of cultural material for the Museum of Fine Arts Boston, and independent consulting for non-profits in USA and India. Maryann has held leadership positions on professional boards and committees, and currently serves on the Board of the Andover Center for History and Culture and New England Classical Singers. She enjoys traveling, motorcycles adventures, and experiencing new cultures and cuisines with her husband.
Treasurer: Peter Ersland, Littleton, MA
Has B.A. and M.A., degrees in Physics, and has worked as a reliability engineer in the semiconductor industry since moving from Minnesota to Massachusetts in 1986. He joined NECS in 1996, and has served in a variety of Board positions, including a four year stint as president. In addition to the NECS board, Peter has held leadership positions with his church, and on a number of professional engineering boards and committees.
Concert Committee Chair: David Williams, North Andover, MA
Has a B.S. in Engineering from University of Massachusetts. Prior to retirement Dave held various management positions in the electronics industry. Now his time is spent with his wife, his two grown children, and his grandchildren. He also volunteers his time with local non-profits, particularly Lazarus House in Lawrence, MA.
Member-at-Large: Mimi Alberu, East Candia, NH
Grew up in New Jersey and holds a BA in Music from the College of St. Elizabeth and a Master’s degree in Business Administration from Plymouth State University, as well as Level II Wine Studies and Reiki Master/Teacher certifications. Her background includes operations management and software product management. She has sung with both large and chamber choruses for over 25 years, including the Manchester (NH) Choral Society and Amare Cantare. She shares her home with a dog, two cats, a horse and a flock of chickens. An herbalist and certified organic grower, she cultivates medicinal herbs on her farm in New Hampshire.
Member-at-Large: Gail Miller Armondino, North Andover, MA
Grew up in Cleveland, Ohio. She graduated from Vassar College and earned her MA and Ph.D. in Historical Musicology from the Catholic University of America. She has worked at Carnegie Hall, The American Classical Orchestra, and currently has her own freelance business, Notes to Go, providing educational materials for all audiences. She is also the Mom to twin boys and three dogs. She lives in North Andover.
Member-at-Large: Martha Southworth, Andover, MA
Holds a masters degree in social work and a graduate certificate in social work in health and has worked in a hospital setting since 1984. Her clinical focus for the last twenty years has been in working with expectant and post partum mothers and their families who face a variety of medical and psycho-social challenges. She has sung in several musical groups since high school and also studied voice in college. She raised her children in Andover where she has been a resident since 1995.
