New England Classical Singers Announces Endowment Campaign

Exciting news! At a festive reception following our March 3 performance, New England Classical Singers launched the public phase of a $500,000 endowment campaign.

Following a stunning performance of American classics, Artistic Director David Hodgkins invited attendees to a reception to feature a surprise announcement. Curious audience members followed the performers into the reception hall, where long tables were laden with cake, sparkling cider, and a dozen varieties of cupcakes.

Thanking the audience members for their enthusiastic support, David spoke about the organization’s bright future, thanks to a new endowment fund established by the board under the leadership of President Jim Affleck. David and Jim cut the celebratory cake as Vice President Mandi Edgerly revealed a thermometer graphic showing the total pledged to date—nearly $400,000, or 4/5 of the half-million-dollar goal. Attendees cheered and toasted the campaign’s success.

A longtime chorus member and officer, Jim approached his fellow board members in summer 2022 to float the idea of an endowment to secure the future of New England Classical Singers. The board endorsed the idea and established the fund. Under Jim’s leadership, board members as well as Artistic Director David Hodgkins have quietly approached longtime supporters over the past year and half to secure pledges and gifts. Most recently, we achieved the landmark of 100% support from board and chorus members.

Now we invite the public to join us and help us reach our $500,000 goal.
