The New England Classical Singers Annual Holiday Concert is one of Merrimack Valley’s most popular holiday traditions. This year NECS presents JS Bach’s Magnificat in D major, a richly inspired masterpiece even by Bach’s standards. The singers will be joined by guest soloists Dana Varga (soprano), Sophie Michaux (alto), Matthew Anderson (tenor) and Thomas Jones (bass), and the NECS orchestra. NECS will then join the audience for post-concert refreshments and an old-fashioned carol sing led by Artistic Director David Hodgkins.

NECS celebrates its 50th Anniversary with a specially commissioned work by local composer Ron Perera, Merrimack and Perera’s Why I Wake Early, based on the works of local poet Mary Oliver.

NECS is joined by the Lawrence High School Girls Ensemble to celebrate the birthday centennial of Leonard Bernstein, who was born in Lawrence, MA. The world premier took place in Philharmonic Hall, New York in 1965 with the composer conducting. The Psalms are noted for the difficulty they pose for the performers.

These concerts are made possible by generous support from Enterprise Bank, Massachusetts Cultural Council, the cultural councils of Andover, North Andover, and Lawrence, and the Catherine McCarthy Memorial Trust Fund.

Please specify the concert and the number of each kind of ticket, i.e. Adult / Senior / Student. Checks should be made payable to New England Classical Singers.Your tickets will be held at the Will Call table. Tickets may also be purchased at the concert venue on the day of the performance.
